This last week has been very good for me as I graduated from CTC and received news of where I’m going to be based with Flybe and get my official start date. Firstly, I’ll start with my graduation.
Be aware – there are lots of pictures in this update!
After all of the hard work of the last 2 years, I have now officially graduated from CTC Aviation! Last weekend, CTC held their annual graduation ceremony and we were all presented with graduation certificates and commemorative crystal blocks to recognise our graduation.
Our guest speaker was Willie Walsh, the CEO of International Airlines Group, and he gave a very good speech about his journey into the industry.
Aside from all of the formalities, it was very nice to be able to catch up with everyone who I’ve been through training with again.
After the graduation ceremony in the afternoon, CTC held a black tie graduation ball in the evening for all graduating pilots – a chance for us to all let our hair down and enjoy the evening!
I thoroughly enjoyed the whole event and it was a fantastic way to end my time with CTC. Looking back at where I am now, I certainly made the right choice in training to be a pilot and I’ve met some amazing people whilst training.
And off the back of finishing CTC, I have now found out that I shall be starting my type rating with Flybe on the 2nd February next year, so there really isn’t long to wait!
I have also found that I’m going to be based up in Aberdeen once my training is completed, so that is certainly going to provide me with some great experiences as I start flying passengers around the country.
Finally, I would like to wish all of my readers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Firstly, I hope that everyone is having a very good Christmas!
I would like to thank you for reading my blog over the past four months and following my journey through the start of training.
I hope that you’ll keep reading what I get up to and following my progress as I go on to complete my training both when I go out to New Zealand and when I come back to this country to finish off.
Hopefully, I’ll be back in this country next year, but if weather and other factors don’t go my way, I could be spending Christmas out there. Whilst I don’t mind, I’m not sure that Mum would be too impressed!
But anyway, I’d better let you all get back to your Christmas festivities but I want to leave you with all my best wishes.
Merry Christmas everyone!
The Christmas break has come around fast – it doesn’t feel like two weeks since I was last home and it definitely doesn’t feel like I’ve been at CTC for 3 months. How time flies!
We’re officially ‘off’ until the 2nd January but even though I’ve come home for a week, I can’t fully relax. I know that I still need to do some work.
This is essential as this break is using up most of our CBT days so my plan is to try and get slightly ahead so that I can come back in January and be able to get onto the Question Bank earlier and be really prepared for the exams.
And speaking of exams, just before we left on Friday, the exam results came in. Seeing the whole class waiting, you could feel the stress and tension in the air.
Fortunately, I passed all seven exams, so I can now go into Module 2 and just focus on those exams. Well done to everyone who got results in CP100, hope they were what you wanted.
And for everyone questioning the speed that I managed to finish the VFR Comms paper in (2 and a half minutes for the half hour paper), I managed to get 100% in it. I think that proves I didn’t go through it too fast!
But now it’s time for me to enjoy my Christmas break back at home with the family. I’m heading back down to Southampton on the 29th December so this week is a time to chill out a bit and meet up with all of my mates.
Even though our Module 1 exams only ended last week, we’ve already had one really intense week of work so far as Module 2 began.
We’ve already made a start on Performance and General Navigation, and we were only in for three day – it felt a lot longer than that!
The work is also starting to rack up as we go back to the CBT once again. Once again, I’m just trying to keep on top of it so that I can make a start on the Question Bank and also have some time off over Christmas.
Speaking of Christmas, we’re only here for another week before we have our Christmas break. We don’t get long off, I’m only going home for a week, but it will be a much wanted break, even if we have to still do some work.
I feel most sorry for the guys on CP101 as they have got their first exams as soon as we come back after Christmas, so have to work extra hard. Hope it all goes well guys.
On the topic of shout outs, found out last night that a couple of guys from CP103 have been reading my blog and they started on the course last Thursday. Best of luck guys as you start your training. Feel free to ask me any questions you guys have, either via comments or email – firstname.lastname@example.org
